Running back is a particular position that is getting a lot of attention from the Longhorns faithful and the media on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class. That is largely due to the fact that Texas remains in the thick of the top schools for two elite running back recruits in Edgewater’s (FL) Cedric Baxter Jr. and El Campo’s (TX) Rueben Owens.

Yet, if things ultimately don’t work out this summer with Baxter and Owens, a quality running back target that new running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns could push harder for is also a former Oklahoma commit. Four-star Trinity Christian Academy (FL) running back Treyaun Webb is currently getting attention from some of the top schools in the country.

But Webb could also be an intriguing running back target for the Longhorns if they ultimately wind up missing out on Owens and/or Baxter in the months ahead.

Webb does currently hold a Texas offer, but it doesn’t appear that the likes of Sark and Choice are pushing all that hard for Webb at the moment. A bigger push ahead of the fall might change Texas’ standing in the race to land a commitment from Webb.

What Webb could bring to the table for the Longhorns is an elusive and sizable 6-foot-1 and 205-pound running back that ranks among the top 150 2023 high school prospects in the nation. Webb is quick off the first cut and is able to make a ton of would-be tacklers miss in the open field. His strength and athleticism separate him as a rusher that can thrive running between the tackles and in short-yardage situations.
