In the midst of the first week of the summer workout schedule and the new semester, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program are breaking in some new additions to the team and have some new activities underway. This offseason’s summer workouts welcome some new activities to the schedule including some new film room time and on-the-field practice work.

Sark and the Longhorns staff will get a couple of extra hours each week during the summer semester to get in the film room and some on-field work for the players. That could be a difference-maker for this immense class of summer enrollees for the Longhorns to get transitioned much smoother into the program ahead of fall camp.

One aspect of summer workouts that will be interesting to follow for Sark and the Longhorns is the additional seven-on-seven work that this team will get. Whereas Texas would be limited to what they could do on the field during summer workouts in prior offseasons, they can at least get a few hours per week of seven-on-seven drills in for the next few weeks in the lead-up to fall camp.

Summer workouts will still be as important as ever, though, with the critical strength training and conditioning that will help these players get their bodies right for the season ahead.

But it’s hard to keep the mind off what the Longhorns could be getting out of some of the more recognizable new players on this roster in seven-on-seven ball during summer workouts. With that in mind, here’s a look at three Longhorns players to watch in seven-on-seven work this offseason.
