Seven-on-seven work during the summer semester will be yet another chance for the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman transfer quarterback and elite five-star recruit Quinn Ewers to get comfortable in this offense ahead of this coming season. And Ewers will need to take a full grasp of every single opportunity he gets to continue to set himself apart from the rising junior quarterback Hudson Card.

Ewers started to develop in front of our eyes during spring camp. But he still has some necessary strides he must make in order to prove to Sark and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee that he’s ready to take the starting job for Week 1 against Louisiana-Monroe.

Some of the necessary progressions Ewers must make ahead of this coming season can take shape during summer workouts. Seven-on-sevens, in particular, will give Ewers a chance to work on his timing and read progressions while not getting overwhelmed by the pass rush and/or having to worry about a shaky offensive line in front of him.

This will also be another chance for Ewers to get comfortable with the skill position weapons surrounding him this year. He hasn’t really gotten to take consistent snaps with the likes of Thompson, senior wide receiver Tarique Milton, freshman Agiye Hall, etc. This will be his chance to get acclimated with those fellow new faces in this program.

Seven-on-seven work during the summer will be one of the best opportunities of the entire offseason for Ewers to get comfortable with his supporting cast. The strides he makes during the summer will be telling of his mindset and comfortability with this offense heading into fall camp.
