Pete Nance, F

This is yet another case of a player that entered the 2022 NBA Draft class and could be a player to Texas to target in the portal if he doesn’t get picked up this year. The former standout Northwestern Wildcats senior forward Pete Nance could be a real difference-maker for the Longhorns in a number of different ways if he were to join this team later this offseason.

Nance spent four seasons playing for Northwestern, with his senior campaign being by far his best. Last season, he averaged around 15 points per game, six rebounds, three assists, and one block while shooting 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free-throw line.

It’s easy to see how such a well-rounded 6-foot-10 forward could add so much value in multiple ways to the rotation next season for Beard and the Longhorns. He would come in and likely start immediately in the frontcourt next to Allen.

Isiaih Mosley, SF

While it’s nice to think about the idea of the Longhorns adding a player the caliber of the former Missouri State Bears junior wing/forward Isiaih Mosley out of the portal, it’s not very realistic. While I could see a scenario where Beard and his staff are able to convince a big man such as Nance to come to Texas, it’s more difficult to see that come to fruition with a player such as Mosely.

Nonetheless, this is a summer portal wish list for the Longhorns, and we’re going to treat it as such.

Entertaining the thought of the Longhorns going after Mosley, it would be pretty incredible to get a wing to campus that averaged more than 20 points per game last season along with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal. And Mosley did all that while shooting at an insanely efficient clip from the field (50.4) and from beyond the arc (42.7).

Mosley is very likely going to land elsewhere, but he is also one of the best players available in the portal at this point of the offseason.

And if Texas isn’t going to land him, I like the reality that there are still players this good available in the portal in the month of June.
