Texas football leading UGA in latest odds for 5-Star Arch Manning
The top target of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class, the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning, is coming squarely into focus this summer for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. Texas sits among two or three top schools at this point of the offseason in the race to land a commitment from Arch.
The other school that is likely involved in the mix among the pacesetters for Manning right now is the Georgia Bulldogs. Sark and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart are going to duke it out during the visit season this month to see who can continue to get an edge in the Arch sweepstakes.
But there are some indicators that Texas could currently be setting the pace in the race to land a commitment from Arch right now. One is that Texas (even) has taken a slight lead on Georgia (+150) in the latest odds for the landing spot for Arch. That gives the Longhorns at least a slight edge over Georgia at the moment in the Manning sweepstakes.
Texas football has the edge over Georgia in the latest Arch Manning commitment odds
After the Alabama Crimson Tide took a commitment from the former Texas A&M Aggies pledge and four-star Louisiana quarterback Eli Holstein, they took a hit in the odds for Arch. But that was to be expected.
It is definitely going to be a tight race, though, between Texas and Georgia for Arch this summer. Georgia is hosting Arch on an official visit this coming weekend, which starts on June 3. Alabama is still set to host Arch on an official visit on June 10, despite nabbing Holstein.
And Texas is set to round out the official visit schedule for Arch this month, when he takes his trip to Austin on June 17.
Moreover, it wouldn’t surprise me if this recruitment got some clarity in the next couple of weeks with Texas and Georgia battling it out to get an edge for Arch. If Arch has a summer decision timeline, that would make things even more interesting in the next few weeks too.
Texas currently holds commitments from five recruits in their 2023 class. But the summer is bound to see Sark and the Longhorns add more numbers to the 2023 class, with the potential for Arch as the headliner.
