In the history of the Texas football program, there are many star quarterbacks worth noting. But Texas has also had a rocky recent stretch of quarterback play in the last dozen years or so. Really since the departure of the former superstar quarterback Colt McCoy, the play at this position for Texas has fallen off a good bit.

That is outside of one notable former Longhorns star quarterback that did everything he could to make sure this program got back to its winning ways.

But we’ll get more into that later.

Texas’ quarterback history has hit a bit of a snag in the past decade or so. But there is hope now looking forward into the 2020s with the Longhorns snagging a commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal from the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback and elite five-star recruit Quinn Ewers.

Who are the best quarterbacks in Texas football history?

The future will be even brighter throughout the early-to-mid 2020s if Texas can land a commitment from the five-star Isidore Newman 2023 quarterback Arch Manning at some point in the next few months. But we’ll have to see how that plays out throughout this offseason.
