Anthony Hill, LB

Potentially the most important defensive prospect for the Longhorns 2023 class is the elite five-star Denton-Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill. In fact, it feels like Hill is about as much of a must-get recruit for the 2023 class for the Longhorns as there is for this entire cycle.

Texas has a big need at the linebacker position, and they need to bring in some talent to this position room via the 2023 class. And that process should start and end with landing a commitment from Hill.

Hill is set to officially visit Texas on June 24, which sets up to be some pretty interesting timing. Texas will get the final official visit of this month from Hill as he’s also set to visit with the Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide, and USC Trojans this month.

But the last official visit currently on the docket for Hill is set for late in July with Texas A&M. At the moment, that leaves head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies as the school that would get the final word with Hill during his summer visit schedule. That could give Texas A&M an interesting advantage over the likes of Texas and Oklahoma in this recruitment heading into the fall.

That’s why Texas has to really hit home with Hill during his official visit starting on June 24.

Getting this official visit right will be the first of two steps that the Longhorns must complete in order to eventually seal the deal with Hill. The other will be showing some major strides on the field on the defensive side of the ball this fall. Check these two boxes and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Longhorns could nab Hill by the time the first signing day arrives.
