We’re now just a few days away from the start of the first-ever Greenville Super Regional between No. 9 Texas baseball and the No. 8 East Carolina Pirates. Head coach David Pierce and Texas will face ECU in what promises to be a high stakes Greenville Super Regional at Lewis Field at Clark-Leclair Stadium, starting on June 10.

Pierce and the Longhorns got to the Greenville Super Regional by knocking off the two-seed Louisiana Tech Bulldogs once and four-seed Air Force Falcons twice in the Austin Regional last weekend. Texas got through their regional last weekend unscathed.

Meanwhile, ECU got to this point by beating the Virginia Cavaliers, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, and Coppin State Eagles, one time each in the Greenville Regional. The only team the Pirates lost to in their regional was Coastal Carolina.

It’s clear that this should be an entertaining super regional between Texas and ECU. It should also be a rather even regional given the insane talent that the Longhorns bring to the table that will face a red-hot group in the Pirates.

ECU has won 21 of their last 22 games heading into supers. That loss to Coastal Carolina is their only one since late April.

Given the fact that ECU has won so many games in the last couple of months, you would think that their hot streak combined with the home-field advantage would give them the leg-up in the opening betting odds for the Greenville Super Regional. That doesn’t appear to be the case, though.

Texas baseball vs. ECU opening odds for Greenville Super Regional

According to WynnBet, Texas is a 1.5-run favorite over ECU for the opening game in the Greenville Super Regional. And the over/under is set at 10 runs for this game.

Texas is also a favorite in the moneyline to beat ECU in the Greenville Super Regional and advance to the College World Series in Omaha, NE. The opening line pegs Texas’ moneyline to win the Greenville Super Regional at -170 while ECU’s sits at +140.

The odds for Texas to win the entire College World Series are also pretty good at this point of the college baseball postseason. Texas sits among the five teams with the best odds to win the College World Series ahead of super regionals.

Moreover, Texas is set to have its first game against ECU in the Greenville Super Regional at Lewis Field on June 10. That will be the first or two or three games in this super regional, depending on how many games each team is able to win this weekend.

If this super regional does make it to a third game this weekend, there would be games Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That would cap the Greenville Super Regional on June 12.
