Last week, the Texas baseball program and head coach David Pierce were able to advance through the Austin Regional to face the No. 8 East Carolina Pirates in the first-ever Greenville Super Regional. Texas swept through the Austin Regional unscathed by knocking off the four-seed Air Force Falcons twice and the two-seed Louisiana Tech Bulldogs once.

Meanwhile, ECU got through the Greenville Regional by defeating a trio of tough opponents including Coastal Carolina, Coppin State, and Virginia. In fact, the only team that beat ECU in the Greenville Regional was Coastal Carolina on one occasion.

That loss to Coastal Carolina in the Greenville Regional was the only slip-up for the Pirates since late April when they fell short to the NC State Wolfpack.

Moreover, Texas comes into the Greenville Super Regional sporting a record of 45-19 (14-10 Big 12) following their finale win in the Austin Regional over Air Force back on June 5 by the final score of 10-1. Texas has won three straight games dating back to a loss in the finals of the Big 12 Tournament to the Oklahoma Sooners on May 29.

And ECU comes into the Greenville Super Regional sporting a record of 45-19 (20-4 AAC) following their regional clinching win over Coastal Carolina on June 6, by the final score of 13-4.

Here’s a look at the betting odds, TV/streaming information, and game prediction as ECU hosts Texas in the first Greenville Super Regional on June 10, with the first pitch time set for 11 a.m. CT.

Texas baseball vs. ECU pick

Texas is likely to have their ace redshirt sophomore left-hander Pete Hansen going up against the Pirates in the first game of the Greenville Super Regional. Hansen was good for the Longhorns in his last start, which resulted in a win over Air Force where he allowed three earned runs in 6.2 innings of work on the mound.

A similar performance from Hansen, giving the Longhorns a quality start, would be huge against ECU in this opening game of supers. Hansen has pitched better of late for Texas, which is coming at the right time.

ECU is one of the better lineups that the Longhorns have faced in the last month or so. Hansen will definitely have to be on his game, or else this ECU lineup can get the crowd rowdy in the blink of an eye at Lewis Field in Greenville.

If Texas gets a win over ECU in the first game of the Greenville Super Regional, it would get them one game away from making it to the College World Series in Omaha, NE, for the second straight season. Game 2 of the Greenville Super Regional also has a first pitch time set for 11 a.m. CT on June 11.

Final score prediction: Texas-9, ECU-5
