A big-time weekend in Austin is about to wrap up after second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian hosted a number of their top targets for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class. Sark and his staff hosted a number of targets ranging from the 2024 to the 2026 recruiting cycles for the “Texas Elite Bash” this weekend.

This camp was meant for underclassmen. But that meant that some of the top names among the targets of the Longhorns 2024 class were on campus for the Texas Elite Bash. which includes the elite five-star Carlsbad (CA) quarterback Julian Sayin.

A report from Horns247 this weekend (paid content) indicates that Sayin had a great time in Austin during the Texas Elite Bash. Sayin continues to build strong bonds with other targets of the Longhorns 2024 class, indicating the ties he’s forming that could help this staff in his recruitment down the road.

It was good to hear that Sayin had a successful visit to Austin this weekend during this camp since he has some other important trips coming up in the next couple of days. Sayin posted on his Twitter timeline on June 7 his visit schedule for the next week or so.

His next two visits are set to come with the LSU Tigers on June 12 and Alabama Crimson Tide on June 13.

Texas football continues to develop the connection with 5-Star QB Julian Sayin

This is also a good sign that Sayin remained active on social media during his camp visit to Austin this weekend. Sayin getting this connected both with the coaching staff and the other top recruits for the Longhorns in the 2024 class and beyond just goes to show the traction he has with this program.

Sayin has now visited Texas three times unofficially since last fall. It’s also his second visit with the Longhorns since the conclusion of spring ball. His last visit to Texas came back on April 19, 2022.

Something to watch, though, will be how Arch Manning continues to impact Sayin. With Arch set to visit Texas next weekend, we will continue to see how that recruitment plays out heading into the summer.

A commitment from Arch in the Longhorns 2023 class would definitely hurt their chances with Sayin. But the priority right now for Sark and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee looks to be landing a commitment from Arch ahead of getting one from Sayin.

However, it’s good to see Texas remaining amidst the top group of schools early on for Sayin. The combination of him transferring schools along with Texas’ ever-important pursuit of Arch definitely presented this staff with challenges in Sayin’s recruitment.
