Colton Vasek, EDGE

The touted four-star Austin-Westlake edge rusher Colton Vasek is a high-stakes target of the Longhorns 2023 class that could have a decision coming about in the near future. Texas is involved among a top group of schools set to get an official visit from Vasek this month.

In fact, the official visit for Vasek with the Longhorns started early this week, specifically on June 14.

The other schools that Vasek is officially visiting this summer are the Texas Tech Red Raiders (June 20), Oregon Ducks (June 17), Oklahoma Sooners (June 10), and Clemson Tigers (June 3).

Vasek is clearly a top priority for co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski, defensive line coach Bo Davis, and the Longhorns this summer. Those two are leading the way for this recruitment and will likely roll out the red carpet for Vasek during his mid-week official visit for the next couple of days.

Texas needs to make a big move with Vasek this week during his official visit if they want to continue to have traction with him on the trail throughout the rest of the summer months. He still has two official visits remaining after this mid-week visit with the Longhorns.

You could argue that Texas is currently one of the top two schools in the race to land a commitment from Vasek. Thus, a successful official visit could bode well for Texas in the long run with a target on the recruiting trail that could have a decision ready for fall camp begins.
