This is going to be a huge weekend on the recruiting trail for defensive line coach Bo Davis. Texas has a good number of their top blue-chip targets along the defensive line for the 2023 class set to officially visit Austin this weekend. And one key name to note among the defensive line official visitors set for this weekend is the highly touted four-star Hewitt-Trussville (AL) product Hunter Osborne.

Osborne is definitely one of the top priorities for Davis and the Longhorns along the defensive line for this recruiting cycle. Davis already proved in the 2022 class that he can go into SEC territory and steal away some NFL-caliber talent. And that could certainly be the case if Texas could close out strong with Osborne this summer.

Moreover, with the keen interest that Arch is taking in being a part of a well-rounded 2023 recruiting class (especially on the defensive side of the ball), getting talented defensive linemen in this group will be key. Texas is going to have some depth to fill along the defensive front in all likelihood next offseason. With likely departures from key starters along the defensive line such as Moro Ojomo and Keondre Coburn, replenishing that depth in the 2023 class will be critical.

Texas is mostly battling it out with the likes of the Tennessee Volunteers, Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, and Alabama in the race to land a commitment from Osborne. Davis and the Longhorns will have some work to do to start setting the pace with Osborne this summer, but this weekend is an opportunity for them to make a big move in this recruitment.
