3 visiting recruits Texas football could land in June

It looks like offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns are gearing up for a major summer push for the four-star Harker Heights (TX) interior offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman as the time for his official visit to Austin is soon to arrive. Chatman is set to have his official visit with Texas on June 24.

The official visit for Chatman with Texas will come after other trips with the likes of the LSU Tigers (June 15), Texas A&M (June 10), and Oklahoma (June 3) have wrapped up.

That could be big for Flood and the Longhorns to get the final word with Chatman during his summer trips.

Furthermore, Texas hosting Manning on an official visit this weekend also makes this OV with Chatman that much more important. Manning will want to see that Sark, Flood, and the Longhorns will do their best to put a very formidable offensive line in front of him. And with the state of Texas having a rather thin offensive line class for the 2023 cycle, at least by the usual standard with this group, maximizing the blue-chips that are available is a must.

That will include Texas making the biggest push they can this summer to win the race to land a commitment from Chatman.

What makes the pursuit of Chatman so urgent now is the fact that Texas missed out on a priority in-state offensive lineman in four-star Vandegrift offensive tackle Ian Reed to the Clemson Tigers. Knowing that Chatman has the versatility to play either at offensive guard or slide over to play offensive tackle means that his presence in the Longhorns 2023 class is now much more crucial to replace what Reed could’ve potentially brought to the table.

Chatman has suddenly become one of the top targets in the trenches on either side of the ball for the Longhorns 2023 class this summer. And this heightened priority could lead to Texas making a move to try and seal the deal with Chatman before the end of the month.
