Head coach Chris Beard and his staff are currently in the early stages of building out the big board for the 2024 Texas basketball recruiting class. And you can see some of the recruits for the 2024 class that are getting priority early on for this cycle by the way the visit schedule is shaping up for the summer for Beard.

Another visitor this month, that Beard and his staff are hosting this week for an unofficial, among the targets of the Longhorns 2024 class early on is the touted five-star Pasadena Memorial (TX) power forward Robert Miller III. A report from Inside Texas this week (paid content) confirms that Texas is hosting Miller III for an unofficial visit which began specifically on June 14.

Miller III is also one of multiple visitors expected on campus this week for Beard and the Longhorns. It just so happens that Miller III is the top-rated recruit among Longhorns’ targets on the trail on campus earlier this week.

Texas looks to be a major player in the recruitment of Miller III early on. Beard and his staff did a nice job of getting in on the recruitment of this rising elite in-state product early on. Texas was the third major conference school to offer Miller III after the LSU Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies.

But Beard and the Longhorns were scouting out Miller III way before an offer came his way back in April. Miller III already visited Texas, when the Longhorns hosted former head coach Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers at the Frank Erwin Center back on Jan. 29 as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Beard and the Longhorns will look to continue to build momentum with Miller III throughout the summer. Doing so can help Texas set the pace in this recruitment at an important time for Miller III, which can also help fend off Texas A&M and LSU among his top schools.

Texas currently sits without any commitments in the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes. But Beard and the Longhorns started to heat up on the recruiting trail in a big way for the 2022 class last summer. The same could be said for Beard and his staff this summer if these upcoming visits are a hit.
