Consistency questions on the Georgia offensive coaching staff

We’ve touched on this aspect of the Manning recruitment a little bit up to this point of the list. But we can’t mention it enough that the proven track record that Sark and his staff bring to the table in terms of development at the skill positions, more specifically at quarterback, should be a game-changer for Arch and his camp.

Texas is able to offer Arch something that Georgia just isn’t.

And one of the aspects of this argument that makes the pitch so strong for Sark and the Longhorns is the fact that it’s hard to tell what kind of stability the Georgia offensive coaching staff will have in the next few years.

Current Georgia offensive coordinator Monken is in his third year in his role, which also encompasses quarterbacks coach. He took over in this role for the Dawgs back in 2020. And this is a long time to hold a single coaching job by Monken’s usual standard.

In fact, this is the longest amount of time he’s spent at one job since his time came to an end as the head coach of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, a role he held from 2013-2015.

Three years is also the longest amount of time that Monken ever spent in one offensive coordinator role at the collegiate level. And combine that with the fact that Monken is one of the hotter names on the offensive coaching market right now, and you can see why there are questions about the stability on that Georgia offensive staff.

Meanwhile, Sark is here with the Longhorns for the long haul. Sark can also use this argument to trump Smart in the sense that he’s definitely the more offensive-minded and offensively-gifted head coach of these two.

Monken is a proven offensive mind, and Georgia certainly has churned out its fair share of NFL talent in the last few years. But the question marks of quarterback development and the potential instability of the offensive coaching staff will likely weigh larger on the Manning’s minds than even winning a national title last season.
