Assessing 4 biggest official visitors for Texas football this weekend
Mikal Harrison-Pilot, WR
One of the most underrated facets to this big-time visit weekend for Sark and the Longhorns is the selection of some of the skill position recruits that will also be on campus with Arch. A good example of that lies with the scheduling of the insanely speedy four-star Temple athlete/wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot for his official visit on the same weekend as Arch.
I believe this is an underrated and intelligent move by the likes of Sark and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion for a few reasons.
First and foremost, Harrison-Pilot is the type of wideout that could form an excellent connection with Arch. Harrison-Pilot would likely fit in this Sark scheme at either the x or h wide receiver spot. He’s got the speed and agility needed to be a crisp route runner that can effectively get separation in tight spaces coming out of the slot.
But Harrison-Pilot also has more than enough versatility in his game to play out of the x spot, which would require more out of him in the passing game.
Harrison-Pilot is definitely capable enough to give Arch a reliable playmaker to look to in the passing game on a consistent basis in a number of different looks/schemes.
Secondly, Harrison-Pilot is a recruit that has a very high IQ on and off the field. He knows where to build relationships and form connections with his fellow recruits and coaches. If Texas could get a commitment out of Harrison-Pilot, that would do nothing but help Sark and his staff in the race to land a commitment from Arch.
Yet, I believe that Arch actually has the ball in his court when it comes to the potential landing spot for Harrison-Pilot. A commitment from Arch would have a lot of sway for the Longhorns as it pertains to Harrison-Pilot. If Arch winds up with the Georgia Bulldogs, though, I do think Harrison-Pilot is destined to land with another top school such as the Oklahoma Sooners or Houston Cougars.
A lot rests on the recruitment of Arch for Texas in pursuit of a pledge from Harrison-Pilot.
