Assessing 4 biggest official visitors for Texas football this weekend
Arch Manning, QB
All eyes are focused on what happens this weekend for the Longhorns during Arch’s highly anticipated official visit. In fact, this official visit is likely to be the peak of the recruiting news cycle for the Longhorns this offseason.
Arch is supposed to be arriving in Austin around 4 p.m. CT. In theory, he is already supposed to be in Austin for the start of his official visit weekend. But we will continue to follow this storyline of his arrival in Austin and the start of the official visit as more comes out in the next couple of hours.
Moreover, if Arch is planning to have a decision timeline set for the next few weeks, then this weekend couldn’t be bigger for Sark, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns. That would likely mean that Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Todd Monken did some good convincing for Arch during his official visit to Athens back on June 3.
Texas would have to put together nearly a perfect visit weekend if that is the case.
Yet, at least the Longhorns would be getting the final official visit with Arch before any potential commitment if he does make an announcement before the end of the summer visit season.
It does appear as if Sark and the Longhorns staff did all they could to get the right group of official visitors on campus for this weekend. Texas getting some touted defensive recruits such as Muhammad and four-star Hewitt-Trussville defensive lineman Hunter Osborne, along with talented wideouts in Harrison-Pilot and Pettaway, on campus for this weekend is huge.
Texas is also in a great spot at the moment for Arch’s teammate and three-star Newman tight end Will Randle. Both Arch and Randle are set for officials to Texas in the next couple of days. That is also a factor that should do nothing but help the Longhorns in this high-stakes recruitment.
