A huge name around the football landscape was spotted at the College World Series in Omaha, NE, between No. 9 Texas baseball and the unseeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish on June 17. The former Tennessee Volunteers star quarterback and NFL Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning was seen in attendance at Texas-Notre Dame for each team’s opening game of the College World Series.

Ironically enough, Peyton is in attendance for a game that involves a school that his nephew is visiting officially right now and another school that knocked out his alma mater in super regionals.

Peyton’s nephew is the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning, who is on an official visit with second-year Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns starting also on June 17.

Weird connection without a doubt.

Moreover, the team facing Texas in their first game of the College World Series heading into this weekend is the one that knocked out his school and the No. 1 seed Tennessee in the Knoxville Super Regional last weekend. Notre Dame pulled off yet another upset by beating the Vols in two of three games in the Knoxville Super Regional so that the Irish could make it to the College World Series for the third time in program history.

Peyton is one of a couple of football stars that were spotted in attendance in Omaha at the College World Series already on June 17. Former Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Kyler Murray was also spotted in attendance when his two former schools met on the afternoon of June 17 in Omaha.

There are a lot of big things happening for both the Longhorns and the Manning family this weekend. Arch’s visit to Texas likely rounds out his summer visit schedule (at least among his officials) this offseason.
