3 Texas football freshmen standing out early in summer workouts
Agiye Hall, WR
Another new addition to the wide receiver room that appears to be making a very positive impression on the likes of Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns is the former Alabama Crimson Tide touted freshman transfer Agiye Hall. What is so important about Hall making his name known in a positive sense early on is the fact that there was some uncertainty concerning how he might transition with the Longhorns after the end of his time with the Crimson Tide.
It’s also important for Hall to stand out right away this offseason due to the abundant competition he could face to get early live-game reps this fall in such a talented wide receiver room. Even among the summer enrollees for the Longhorns, there are a plethora of talented wideouts worth talking about.
Hall is one of four additions for the Longhorns among wideouts by way of the transfer portal so far this offseason. The other three are the former Iowa State Cyclones senior Tarique Milton, Wyoming Cowboys redshirt freshman Isaiah Neyor, and Montana Grizzlies senior (preferred walk-on) Gabe Sulser.
This former five-star recruit and Florida product Hall is reportedly showing off his insane physical tools and ability to separate on intermediate and deep routes so far during the summer 7-on-7s. Much like Thompson, Hall is standing out in this Sark offensive scheme when given the opportunity in on-field summer practices.
When Texas landed a commitment from Hall out of the transfer portal a couple of months ago, he was figured to be more of a long-term project than an immediate impact pass-catcher. Yet, if he continues to show maturity and is able to make a quick transition since arriving on the Forty Acres earlier this month, I would expect Hall to challenge for some key reps early in the regular season.
