Texas football target Arch Manning was ‘attached to the hip’ with Ewers
It looks like the official visit from the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning with Texas football this weekend is all but wrapped up. Arch had a multi-day official visit with second-year Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the rest of this staff and team that started back on June 17.
And this official visit was expected to wrap up on June 19, capping the weekend with many Longhorns fans wanting to know what the status of this recruitment is at the moment.
This official visit seems to have gone well from the early discussions of what we’ve heard coming off the Forty Acres in the last couple of days. But we’re sure to hear more information and status updates concerning the thoughts of Arch and his camp with his official visits likely wrapped up for the summer.
A key update that we learned about this weekend visit that was interesting came courtesy of Hudson Standish of Horns247 on June 18 (paid content). That report from Horns247 indicates that Manning was hanging out with the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman transfer quarterback and fellow No. 1 rated recruit in the nation Quinn Ewers.
5-Star QB Arch Manning gets to spend some time with transfer Texas football QB Quinn Ewers
Ewers and Manning were reportedly “attached at the hip” for a good bit of the official visit on June 18. And it sounds like Manning enjoyed the time he spent with Ewers, which has to be considered a positive development by the Longhorns fans and coaching staff.
Yet, this move was obviously planned by Sark, Milwee, and the Longhorns staff for Arch to get some time with Ewers during this official visit.
Moreover, the impact that Ewers could have on the recruitment of Arch is untold. If Ewers finds success with Sark and the Longhorns in this offense this fall, and elevates this team’s success in the win columnn as a result, that would prove a lot to Manning that this is a viable landing spot for him.
Some of the initial thoughts that Texas landing a commitment from Ewers out of the NCAA Transfer Portal early this offseason would negatively impact them in the recruitment of Manning should actually be quite the opposite. Ewers finding success with the Longhorns this fall should do nothing but help Texas in the race to land a commitment from Arch.
Texas had an enormous couple of days on the recruiting trail this weekend hosting some top targets from the 2023 class on official visits. That also included the Longhorns landing a commitment for the 2023 class from Arch’s teammate and three-star Newman tight end Will Randle.
