We have just concluded what could wind up being the most important official visit weekend of the entire offseason for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program. Texas hosted multiple priority targets of their 2023 recruiting class on official visits over the weekend, which created quite the buzz around the program on the trail.

This official visit weekend for Sark and the Longhorns staff saw most of the buzz obviously surround the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. But there were more targets worth noting that could have a huge impact on the formation of the Longhorns 2023 class that were also visiting over the weekend.

Texas hosted a double-digit number of targets for the 2023 class. One of those visiting recruits among targets of the Longhorns 2023 class also committed to Texas in the last couple of days. Late in the morning of June 19, Texas landed a commitment from Arch’s teammate and three-star Newman tight end Will Randle.

All in all, this visit weekend looks to be a success for the Longhorns from what we’re hearing so far. But the real test of this visit weekend will be once we get a decision from Arch.

Here’s a look at five key recruits for the Longhorns that were impressed by their official visits to Austin over the weekend.

Hunter Osborne, DL

Among the most important defensive targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that was on an official visit with Texas over the weekend was the highly touted four-star Hewitt-Trussville defensive lineman Hunter Osborne. And from what we can tell regarding this official visit coming out of the weekend, the Texas staff was able to hit the right buttons with Osborne in the last couple of days.

Texas was figured to be in the mix of four or five top schools heading into the weekend in the race to land a commitment from Osborne. But it also looked like Texas was fighting an uphill battle with other top schools such as the Tennessee Volunteers, Clemson Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Now, Texas is seemingly right in the mix with most of the other top schools for Osborne this summer.

Osborne was busy on social media during his official visit showing off what he would look like in a Texas uniform. That type of engagement on social media usually bodes well for the impression that a school is able to make on a prospective recruiting target such as Osborne.

But the fact of the matter is that Texas will have to wait and see what happens for Osborne when he takes his official visit with head coach Josh Heupel and the Vols next weekend. That OV with Tennessee will help clear up some of the uncertainty surrounding the picture of Osborne’s top three or four schools ahead of the fall.
