5 key recruits impressed by Texas football’s big OV weekend
Malik Muhammad, CB
Outside of Arch, one of the official visitors from last weekend that we’ve discussed most often in the last few days is the highly touted four-star South Oak Cliff cornerback Malik Muhammad. It looks like the Longhorns did nothing but help their chances in the race to land a commitment from Muhammad with some of the moves they made in the last couple of days.
In fact, the hype coming out of this major visit weekend is that Texas made one of the biggest moves with Muhammad of any of the official visitors on campus in the last few days. That is big considering some of the positives we’re hearing from the visitors that were on campus, including one that committed on June 19.
A report from Mike Roach of Horns247 on June 20 (paid content) indicates that Muhammad left campus with one of the most positive impressions of the school of any recruits that visited over the weekend. Texas also reportedly got potentially the most positive immediate feedback from Muhammad compared with any of the other official visitors last weekend.
All eyes will now turn to where the Longhorns stand among the top schools in the race to land a commitment from Muhammad as his official visit with the Texas A&M Aggies approaches late next month. Muhammad is scheduled to officially visit Texas A&M on July 29.
If the presumed decision timeline from Muhammad shifts at all in the next few weeks, that would likely be a good sign of where Texas stands in this recruitment. We’ll have to wait and see how the picture of Muhammad’s top schools changes in the next couple of weeks to make any firm assessment of how much this visit actually moved the needle ahead of an announcement.
