6. D’Onta Foreman (2014-2016)

D’Onta Foreman had one of the most dominant seasons in program history for the Longhorns, which is why he nearly cracks the top five on this list. Foreman didn’t make much of a mark for the Longhorns until the 2016 campaign, where he broke onto the scene as maybe the most productive running back in all of college football.

During the 2016 season, Foreman finished first in the Big 12 and second in the FBS with 2,028 rushing yards, along with an average of 6.3 yards per carry, and 15 rushing touchdowns.

For his efforts in 2016, Foreman finished eighth in the Heisman voting and won the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s best running back.

We can only imagine where Foreman would rank on this list had he touched the ball more in the couple of seasons prior to his breakthrough 2016 campaign.

5. Jamaal Charles (2005-2007)

Jamaal Charles is one of the most memorable and exciting running backs in the last few decades for the Longhorns. Throughout the mid-2000s, Charles was a versatile threat for the Longhorns that was a big play just waiting to happen at any time.

Charles had the best season of his collegiate career in 2008 when he really broke out for more than 1,600 rushing yards, 1,181 total yards from scrimmage, and a whopping 18 rushing touchdowns.

The three-time All-Big 12 selection Charles was a freshman when Texas won the National Championship in 2005. He was a big-time contributor on that team, despite it being the first season of his collegiate career.
