The colossal commitment that second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff were looking for in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class arrived on June 23. Texas landed their clear-cut top target in the 2023 recruiting class in the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.

Late in the morning of June 23, Arch posted his first tweet on his page announcing his commitment to the Longhorns. Arch committed to Texas just a few days after his official visit to Austin concluded last weekend.

Texas got this commitment over other top schools in the Manning sweepstakes including the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide. Arch had also taken official visits to Georgia (June 3) and Alabama (June 10) prior to his trip to Texas last weekend.

Who’s next for Texas football after reeling in the elite QB Arch Manning

Something that Longhorns fans will be eagerly anticipating following this commitment from Arch is the type of impact this will have with other prospective targets of this 2023 class. Texas is sure to reel in some other big names, especially among key recruits on the offensive side of the ball, following the addition of Arch in the 2023 class.

With that in mind, here’s a look at a prediction of who the next commitment could be in the Longhorns 2023 class after landing Arch.

Jonah Wilson, WR

One of the skill position targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that got pretty active on social media following the commitment of Arch to Texas on this day was the touted four-star Dekaney wide receiver Jonah Wilson. It looks like the commitment from Arch really made an impact on Wilson with what we’ve seen and from him in the hours since.

Wilson seemingly hinted at how he felt about Arch committing to Texas with a tweet early in the afternoon of June 23. And given the connection that the 6-foot-3 and 195-pound in-state wideout had with Manning in the past, it seems like this commitment caught his interest in the best of ways as it relates to the Longhorns.

There were three expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions projecting Wilson to commit to Texas on June 23 following the Manning news. It also looks like the Manning commitment moved the needle for Wilson in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Depending on what happens for the Longhorns with other big-bodied wide receivers like four-stars Jaden Greathouse and Jalen Hale, the recruitment of Wilson will be big for new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion. Wilson could be that big-bodied receiver that the Longhorns are looking for in the 2023 class to fill that role on the outside.
