Johntay Cook, WR

One of the first names that come to mind for the Longhorns faithful in terms of the top blue-chip recruits that the Longhorns really moved the needle with after landing Arch is the newly-minted five-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook. Texas definitely made a big move in Cook’s eyes after reeling in Arch on June 23.

Cook is another one of the blue-chip Longhorns targets in the 2023 class that caught a wave of expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions following the Arch commitment on June 23. There were three Crystal Ball Predictions that Texas received for Cook during the afternoon of June 23.

This is beginning to line up pretty well for the Longhorns in pursuit of a commitment from Cook. Not too long ago, Cook confirmed he would be taking his official visit to Texas this coming weekend. And that now looks like great timing for Cook to land in the same recruiting class as Arch as we approach his official visit weekend.

It’s worth noting that between Rivals, On3, and 247Sports, there were roughly a dozen analyst forecasts placed for Cook to land with the Longhorns. It now goes without saying that Texas is the emerging favorite in the race to land a commitment from Cook.

Cook is the top target for Marion, Sark, and the Longhorns at the wide receiver position in the 2023 class. The idea was always that he and Arch could highlight the 2023 class at the skill positions along with others such as five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens and four-star Langham Creek wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway. That is now starting to become a reality for the Longhorns 2023 class this summer.
