Dillon Mitchell was a major riser during his senior season of high school in which he led Montverde Academy to a 2022 GEICO National Championship. Mitchell finished as the No. 2 small forward and No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2022.

As he enters his first season on the Forty Acres, the 6-foot-7, 200-pound Mitchell must focus on adding muscle to his wiry frame and a three-point shot if he wants to be taken as a top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Mitchell was one of the most electrifying athletes in his high school class. He plays above the rim more than any other top prospect. The Montverde alum loves to run in transition, combining his freaky athleticism with his gazelle-esque strides.

He projects as a new-era swingman four in today’s NBA.

Mitchell’s elite athleticism paired with his high basketball IQ slots him with a ceiling as an All-NBA Defensive team player. He certainly has the tools to hang in the league but will have to fill out and focus on his jump shot if he wants to see prolonged success at the next level.

CBS Sports has Mitchell slotted in the No. 6 spot in their way too early 2023 mock draft. ESPN has him just one selection later at No. 7.

Mitchell will likely spend just one season in Austin as he has far and away from the most NBA potential on Beard’s current roster.
