Jaydon Chatman, IOL

One of the recruitments that has really heated up of late concerning the Longhorns comes with the highly touted four-star Harker Heights (TX) interior offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman. Texas has made Chatman one of their biggest priorities among targets of the 2023 class in the trenches of any blue-chip offer this summer.

And this looks like a great opportunity for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns to make a big move to try and close down the recruitment of Chatman during his official visit to Austin this weekend. Chatman is one of multiple important offensive line recruits officially visiting Texas in the next couple of days.

It’s hard to find a more important offensive line recruit for the Longhorns to land in the 2023 class at the moment than Chatman. He could be the versatile big-bodied offensive linemen that the Longhorns are looking for in the 2023 class to anchor this group in the trenches for years to come.

The 6-foot-4 and 290-pound Chatman is incredibly adept in pass blocking and is continuing to progress as a run-blocker that can play at both offensive guard spots. If Chatman continues to get quicker on his feet in the next year or so, he also has the versatility in his game to play at offensive tackle.

He’s definitely got the size now to be a Power Five offensive tackle. This ability to thrive at multiple spots along the offensive line, even against SEC-level competition, is something that Flood noticed early on with Chatman. And that relationship that Flood and the Longhorns built early on with Chatman has seemingly helped Texas get the edge over other top suitors in this recruitment such as Texas A&M, LSU, and the Oklahoma Sooners.
