Texas football trending over A&M for 3-Star OT Connor Stroh
As part of this important official visit for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2023 Texas football recruiting class, there are a number of key offensive line targets on campus for the next couple of days. Texas hauled in a historic offensive line class for the 2022 recruiting cycle. And offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood is looking to continue the momentum on the recruiting trail with top targets for his position group in the 2023 class.
A priority name that has remained firmly on the radar for Flood and the Longhorns in the trenches is the towering 6-foot-7 and 345-pound Wakeland three-star offensive tackle Connor Stroh. Texas was one of the first major schools to send a scholarship offer to Stroh, which has often put them at the forefront of this recruitment.
But there are some other top contenders in and around the state of Texas that have jumped into the mix for Stroh in the last few months. That includes other top schools such as the Texas A&M Aggies, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Auburn Tigers.
Clearly, there are some big-time football programs that believe that Stroh has the ability to compete game in and game out in the trenches in the SEC. That bodes well if Texas is able to land his commitment upon their move from the Big 12 to the SEC, likely in 2024 or 2025.
Texas football now trending for 3-Star Texas A&M legacy OT Connor Stroh
And the odds for Texas to win the race to land a commitment from Stroh are looking pretty good in the week following the massive pledge of the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. In the last couple of days alone, Stroh had two expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions that project his commitment to go to Texas.
The On3 recruiting prediction machine is also now heavily favoring Texas over other top schools for Stroh such as Texas A&M and Arkansas. On3 RPM now gives Texas better than a 76 percent chance to land a commitment from Stroh.
Moreover, the fact that Stroh is on campus this weekend for an official visit with Flood and the Longhorns means that this could be the opportunity this staff was looking for to start closing the deal with this important in-state offensive lineman. Texas is getting the last of four official visits Stroh had scheduled for May and June.
Texas getting the final word in this recruitment when this staff has a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail means that Flood could use this leverage to close down this pursuit of Stroh. If Texas still finds Stroh as a priority offensive tackle in this 2023 class, they need to make a big impression on him and his camp in the next couple of days.
At this moment, Texas has yet to land its first offensive line commit in the 2023 class. Stroh is definitely a candidate to watch that could be the first OL to commit for Flood and the Longhorns in this class. Other names to watch in this regard are four-star Harker Heights IOL Jaydon Chatman and three-star Mansfield Timberview IOL Andre Cojoe.
