Another priority wide receiver target for Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns in the 2023 class is the speedy and versatile four-star Temple athlete/wideout Mikal Harrison-Pilot. Texas made a great impression on Harrison-Pilot with their Deebo Samuel-style pitch to him during his official visit this month. That pitch could be one of the major factors for Texas in this recruitment.

Moreover, it is important for Texas to get some of these talented blue-chip skill position targets right out of their own backyard.

At the moment, the biggest threat for the Longhorns in the race to land a commitment from Harrison-Pilot are likely the Cal Golden Bears and Oklahoma Sooners. Granted, it feels like Oklahoma has even started to fall behind Cal and Texas in the last few weeks in this recruitment.

Cal hosted Harrison-Pilot on an official visit last weekend. That came one week after Harrison-Pilot’s official visit to Texas starting back on June 17. Unless Cal absolutely blew Harrison-Pilot away in a way that we haven’t seen in a long time, I would expect Texas to remain the frontrunner here at the conclusion of his summer trip schedule.

Given how Texas made such a big move with Harrison-Pilot during his official visit to Austin a couple of weekends ago, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he is the next wide receiver to commit in the 2023 class.

Harrison-Pilot is another key wideout for Marion and the Longhorns that was impacted in a big way by Arch committing last week. Arch and Harrison-Pilot could form a great connection with Texas, and one that can beat opposing defenses in multiple ways. The potential for this connection in the passing game could soon be enough for Texas to get Harrison-Pilot committed in the 2023 class.
