2. Xavier Worthy, WR

An obvious inclusion on this list for the second year in a row is the former blue-chip commit and rising sophomore star wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Texas has a true speedster that is one of the most explosive playmakers in the open field in the entire country.

Sark and the Longhorns were able to utilize the insane speed and elusiveness that Worthy brings to the table in multiple ways last year. He was able to take the top off opposing defenses on deep balls by exploding past his defensive back in coverage multiple times. Last season, Worthy went for more than 350 yards on deep balls, with five touchdown catches.

But that wasn’t the only way that the Longhorns were able to put the insane open-field speed of Worthy to work last fall. Sark was able to get Worthy the ball in the screen game, as well as on jet sweeps.

We all remember the 75-yard screen pass from Casey Thompson that Worthy took for a score to really get the Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners off to an explosive start last year. And that was one of multiple ways that Worthy’s explosiveness came to the forefront for the Longhorns as a true freshman.

Worthy was also a track star at Central East High School in Fresno, CA. He clocked in running multiple 100-meter dash times between 10.5 and 10.65 seconds. We don’t really have a recent 40-yard dash time reported for Worthy. But he was already running a sub-4.5 second 40-yard dash time as a freshman in high school.

It has definitely gotten faster since that point.
