1. Brenen Thompson, WR

Was there any doubt as to who the top spot on this list would belong to for the Longhorns?

The former four-star wide receiver signee and Spearman High School product Brenen Thompson was one of the fastest players in the entire country for the 2022 class. Thompson broke a ton of 3A Texas state high school track records during his time at Spearman High School.

And he continued to show off that blazing track speed for Spearman all the way up until a couple of months ago. Just a few months ago, Thompson was timed running a sub-10.3 second 100-meter dash time, which is one of the fastest you’ll see among any Texas wide receiver at any point.

It’s also rare that you’ll see Thompson run a 100-meter dash time slower than 10.4 seconds. That really seems to be the floor for him in that event.

That insane speed for Thompson also extends to other events in track and field. Thompson was recorded running a 200-meter dash at an insane time of just over 21.2 seconds on multiple occasions in the last few months.

There was even a video on social media showing Thompson running a sub 10.2 100-meter dash time a couple of years ago. But it’s hard to find proof of that time recording for Thompson back in the spring of 2020.

It goes without saying that Texas is going to have a very explosive wideout in the mix that can do a ton of damage in the open field for the next few years at least in Thompson. Seeing what Sark and the Longhorns staff can do with Thompson on offense and in the return game in the next few years is going to be special.
