We’re a little more than two months out from the biggest game of the non-conference schedule during the upcoming regular season for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program. Texas will be looking to make a statement to the college football landscape in a high-stakes matchup against the reigning National Champion runner-up Alabama Crimson Tide.

There are multiple players and coaches for this Longhorns team that have ties back to Alabama. Sark was an offensive analyst and interim offensive coordinator at Alabama in 2016 and was also the offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020.

Other Texas assistants such as Jeff Banks and Kyle Flood were also on the Alabama staff with Sark prior to joining the Longhorns last offseason.

Texas also has three former Alabama transfers on the roster in redshirt junior running back Keilan Robinson, junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley, and redshirt freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall.

For multiple reasons, there will be a lot on the line for both teams in this game. But most college football fans clearly expect Alabama to run away with this game. It will be up to the Longhorns to make this one competitive and try to ultimately put the Crimson Tide on upset alert when these two teams meet this fall.

Moreover, Texas finished up last season with a record of 5-7 (3-6 Big 12). Meanwhile, Alabama finished up last season with a record of 13-2 (8-1 SEC) after falling short to the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

The last time that Texas and Alabama met on the gridiron came back in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game, which the Crimson Tide won 37-21. Texas still leads the all-time series over Alabama with a record of 7-1-1.

Here’s a look at the early betting odds, TV/streaming information, and kickoff time for the key meeting between Texas and Alabama this coming season on Sep. 10.

Texas football vs. Alabama early betting odds

According to WynnBet, the early betting odds for this game favor Alabama over Texas by a spread of 15 points. And the over/under is set at 56.5 points.

Sark and the Longhorns are pretty sizable underdogs in this game. Alabama has remained roughly a two-touchdown favorite since the opening odds dropped for this game earlier this offseason.

It also looks like Vegas isn’t expecting a big shootout to go down in this one with the over/under set just north of 56 points. That would essentially mean that Vegas is projecting the final score of this game to be around 36-21 with some rounding done.

This meeting with Alabama on Sep. 10 could be one of two opponents that Texas faces during the non-conference schedule that are ranked in the top 25 preseason polls. The other is the UTSA Roadrunners, who face the Longhorns at DKR on Sep. 17.
