Michael Uini, OT

One of the hottest in-state blue-chip 2024 recruits this summer is the talented four-star Copperas Cove offensive tackle Michael Uini. As one of the more recent Texas offers worth noting, Uini has seen his profile explode on the national recruiting scene in the last couple of months.

Texas was one of more than 15 schools to offer Uini going back to the beginning of April 2022. And roughly half of the schools on his offer sheet at this point of the offseason got in the mix in the last six or eight weeks. Some of the other schools of note that have offered Uini lately are the Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Alabama, among others.

While Texas wasn’t one of the first schools to offer Uini, it looks like this staff had communication with him before sending out that invitation last month. That’s likely what led to Texas getting Uini on campus for a visit a few weeks ago.

This looks to be another recruitment where Texas could ultimately wind up duking it out on the trail with Alabama and Texas A&M for a top in-state blue-chip 2024 prospect. Uini visited Texas, Texas A&M, and Alabama unofficially last month. And it looks like all three schools will be looking to get him on the books for at least one more visit this fall.

It’s still way too early to tell how the top schools will wind up stacking up for Uini. But offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns have done a nice job finding traction with Uini in a short span of time this summer. He will continue to be a hotly-contested 2024 recruit that we monitor closely throughout the rest of the summer and the fall.
