Hunter Osborne, DL

One of the more back-and-forth recruitments in the last few weeks comes with the touted four-star Hewitt-Trussville defensive lineman Hunter Osborne. There was a point in time just a couple of weeks ago when it looked like the Longhorns were trending to land a commitment from Osborne. But that narrative has shifted at various points since the end of June.

It’s hard to tell exactly when a decision will come down from Osborne. He was expected to have a late summer decision a couple of months ago. But Osborne could realistically announce at any point in the next few weeks and it shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Moreover, there is one current Texas commit that appears to be pushing hard for a commitment from Osborne in the near future. Cook took to social media this weekend to let Osborne know that he is a wanted man in the Longhorns 2023 class.

While it wasn’t a huge back and forth between Cook and Osborne on social media in the last 24 hours, it’s still noteworthy that the DeSoto wide receiver had his voice heard on this matter.

It’s also worth noting that there were a few other key recruits in the 2023 cycle that jumped into the conversation after Cook tweeted at Osborne “why not Texas?”.

Even the five-star cornerback and Alabama Crimson Tide commit Tony Mitchell hopped into the conversation saying that the reason why Osborne shouldn’t choose Texas is that he wants to win.

Nonetheless, it appears that some key Texas commits are pushing for Osborne to join this 2023 class despite some of the mixed reports we’ve heard regarding the status of his recruitment. At the moment, it’s difficult to tell how much the Texas staff is pushing for Osborne considering how fast this class is filling up along the defensive front this summer.
