We are now less than 50 days away from the start of the 2022 season for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program. Knowing that the regular season is so close, the predictions are starting to roll in for the campaign ahead.

And one of the Longhorns players that are frequently found in discussions among the top stars for the upcoming college football season is star junior running back Bijan Robinson. Bijan is definitely the biggest and brightest star in the spotlight for the Longhorns for the 2022 season.

The hype for Bijan is pegging him not just as a potential All-American and first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but also as a Heisman contender. Bijan is commonly mentioned as the running back with the best chance to win the Heisman this fall.

That sentiment was echoed in some award predictions for the upcoming season from 247Sports on July 15. This 247Sports piece tabbed Bijan was a Heisman finalist for this fall, along with the likes of sophomore USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams and junior Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Will Anderson as the other two Heisman finalists that don’t wind up taking home the honors.

The winner for the Heisman in this 247Sports projection is the redshirt sophomore Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Moreover, this 247Sports projection also had Bijan winning the Doak Walker Award as the best running back in the country for the 2022 season. That had him finishing ahead of other projected finalists in the Kansas State Wildcats junior Deuce Vaughn and Ohio State sophomore TreVeyon Henderson.

Here’s more on what this 247Sports piece had to say on the projection for Bijan winning the Doak Walker Award for the 2022 season.

"The Longhorns improved across the board offensively: they added Quinn Ewers at quarterback, signed a loaded offensive line class and brought in four well-regarded receiving transfers. Robinson should directly benefit from all of that in pretty obvious ways. He has loads of his own talent, but legitimate threats elsewhere will take some attention off of him. All of this to say, it would not be surprising to see Robinson reach the 1,500 yard rushing mark with his elite blend of skills and Texas’ improved situation."

It’s clear that a lot of people are high on this Texas offense as a whole this fall. More specifically, there is a lot of hype surrounding what this Texas offense can do in 2022 largely thanks to the presence of Bijan in the backfield.

Texas finished up last season with a record of 5-7 (3-6 Big 12), missing out on bowl season for the first time since 2016. Bijan and the Longhorns will be looking to hit the ground running this fall with a difficult non-conference schedule that also features the defending National Champion runner-up Alabama and a potential top 25 preseason team in the UTSA Roadrunners.
