Freddie Dubose, WR

One of the early wideout targets that had the attention of Sark and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion in the Longhorns 2024 class was the highly touted four-star Smithson Valley (TX) product Freddie Dubose. Texas looks to continue to make Dubose one of the top priorities among wide receiver targets of the Longhorns 2024 class early on.

This priority that Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns have shown to Dubose and his camp this offseason could pay dividends before too long in the 2024 class. Texas certainly fits the bill of an early frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Dubose at this point of his recruitment.

The unofficial visit for Dubose to Texas next weekend will even be his third time on campus in 2022. Dubose also visited Texas unofficially back on June 11 and Jan. 22. And it looks like Texas is planning to have Dubose visiting campus at least a couple of times this fall.

Texas already looks to be facing some chief competition among the frontrunners in the race to land a commitment from Dubose in the form of the Oregon Ducks and Texas A&M Aggies. It also wouldn’t surprise me if the Baylor Bears stuck around among the top schools for Dubbose too this fall.

There could still be a ways to go in this recruitment before Dubose is ready to make a decision. But Texas needs to continue pressing the way they have in the last six or eight months to retain their standing as one of the clear frontrunners in this recruitment.
