Derion Gullette, LB/EDGE

Similar to the way that Hale’s commitment is trending this summer, the touted four-star Marlin (TX) edge rusher/linebacker Derion Gullette looks be to a pretty strong lean for the Longhorns at this point of the offseason.

The two expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Gullette project his commitment to Texas. The same could be said for the Longhorns holding the lead in the two forecasts from On3 reporters/analysts this month.

And even Rivals’ analysts and publishers are picking Gullette to commit to Texas unanimously. The industry experts seem to be favoring Texas in the race to land a commitment from Gullette, and it’s not very close right now.

Moreover, what we’re watching for Gullette heading into the fall is his looming unofficial visit with the Texas A&M Aggies on the weekend of July 29. That could be one of the material events that impacts the decision of Gullette heading into the fall.

But I would imagine that Texas could come out of that weekend for Gullette’s unofficial visit to College Station to see Texas A&M still the leader in this recruitment. Nearly every indication at the moment points to Texas setting the pace in this recruitment in a big way. It seems like it would take Texas A&M making an astronomically large move with Gullette next weekend for anything to change in the next few weeks for Texas.
