Now exactly one month from the start of the 2022 regular season for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, excitement is in the air on the Forty Acres for what lies ahead this fall. Texas also began fall practice on Aug. 3, with a number of key position battles to be decided in the next few weeks.

Sark and the Longhorns are looking to be one of the most improved teams in the Big 12 this season. Texas finished up last season with a disappointing record of 5-7 (3-6 Big 12), which included the program’s longest losing streak in conference play in roughly a half-century.

But there are plenty of reasons for optimism for what lies ahead this fall for the Longhorns. Texas added a lot of talent on both sides of the ball by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal and the 2022 recruiting class. Some of the newcomers to the program this year will be counted on to make an impact right away on the Longhorns too.

We’ll get a good idea of what type of Texas team will show up under Sark’s direction this fall in two of the non-conference games during the first three weeks this season.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the five most winnable games of the 2022 season for Texas.
