The driving force to a lot of the success that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have found on the trail for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class is thanks to the commitment of the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Back on June 23, Texas reeled in a commitment from Arch, which skyrocketed the stock of the 2023 recruiting class.

And one of the more intriguing aspects of Arch’s game that makes him such a valued recruit is the fact that he is pretty athletic, especially considering that he is a Manning quarterback. The Manning didn’t tend to produce the most athletic quarterbacks, at least among Arch’s uncles.

In a recent piece published by Steve Serby of the New York Post, Arch’s uncle and potential future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Eli Manning gave his thoughts on what his nephew brings to the table for the Longhorns, including his athletic profile. Eli apparently does think that Arch could be the most athletic Manning quarterback.

Eli noted that he definitely thinks that Arch is more athletic than both of his uncles. That would at least peg Arch as more athletically-gifted than Eli and Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.

It’s also worth mentioning that Eli compared Arch’s athletic profile as a quarterback more to that of his grandfather and former New Orleans Saints two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Archie Manning.

Texas football commit Arch Manning tabbed as most athletic QB in family by Eli Manning

Here’s what Eli specifically said, as quoted in this New York Post article, regarding the athletic profile of Arch.

"“He’s more athletic than Peyton or I,” Eli said. “Maybe a little bit bigger than Peyton or I, and so I think he’s got the ability to scramble around and run around — probably more similar to my dad (Archie) than Peyton or I.”"

It’s clear that, at least from what we can see in Arch’s high school film, he is definitely more mobile than Peyton and Eli were during their college days.

That’s definitely a good thing since Peyton and Eli were anything but threats using their legs as a weapon during their time as college and pro quarterbacks.

All jokes aside, Arch’s underrated mobility is certainly a notable part of his game that only makes him an even more valuable college recruit. And that is likely something that will continue to set him apart as NFL scouts start to gather his capabilities and scouting profile once he arrives on the Forty Acres.

Texas currently holds commitments from 21 recruits in the 2023 class after landing the highly touted four-star Teague (TX) linebacker/edge rusher Derion Gullette on Aug. 5. Arch is the lone quarterback commit in the Longhorns 2023 class, and that is going to remain the class through signing day.
