Yates also unofficially visited Texas recently. He was on campus in Austin for an unofficial visit on Aug. 4. That Aug. 4 unofficial visit to Austin was Yates’ first to see the Longhorns.
Moreover, getting Yates on the books for an official visit was one of a couple of big-time nuggets in his recruitment this weekend. Texas was also included in the top group of nine schools that Yates announced on social media early in the afternoon of Aug. 13.
The other schools included in his top nine that he announced on Twitter on Aug. 13 are the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Stanford Cardinal, Washington Huskies, Houston Cougars, Arkansas Razorbacks, LSU, Auburn Tigers, and Baylor Bears.
Texas is currently without a commitment in the 2023 class as of the night of Aug. 13. But that Sep. 3 weekend is shaping up to be a big one for the Longhorns, with the trio of Yates, Holland, and four-star Carmichael-Jesuit (CA) small forward Andrej Stojakovic all set to officially visit Texas.
