Most of the current attention for the Texas football program is on what lies ahead for head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad for the upcoming regular season. But one of the overarching storylines this season for some of the more critical Texas players will be the outlook for the 2023 NFL Draft.

And there’s no bigger Longhorns player with a more impressive NFL Draft outlook than star junior running back Bijan Robinson. Sark, new running backs coach Tashard Choice, and the Longhorns clearly have a unique talent that just doesn’t come around very often in Bijan.

The insane talent and unique skill set that Bijan brings to the table at the running back position was recently highlighted when ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay his best prospects in the 2023 class.

On Aug. 17, McShay published his top 200 prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft class in an ESPN piece (insider content). And Bijan cracked the top 10 in this 2023 draft class ranking from ESPN’s McShay.

More specifically, Bijan was ranked as the top running back and the No. 8 overall prospect in this entire draft class. If you’re going by draft grade that McShay mentioned in this piece, Bijan rang in at 91. That tied him with the likes of USC wide receiver Jordan Addison, Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer, and Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy as the No. 7 best prospect in the 2023 draft class.

It’s extremely impressive that Bijan ranked above the likes of Ohio State star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo, and Alabama safety Jordan Battle in this prospect ranking for the 2023 draft class.

Bijan also ranked well above the next best running back in this draft class. Former Georgia Tech transfer and new Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs was ranked as the second-best prospect at the position in this draft class, also ringing in as the No. 32 overall player.

It’s also worth noting that Bijan was one of three Longhorns players that made this list of the top 200 draft prospects for the 2023 class. The other two Longhorns players included in this ranking from McShay for the 2023 draft were tight end Jahleel Billingsley and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. Billingsley ranked as the No. 9 tight end and Overshown rang in as the No. 4 inside linebacker.

All in all, it’s clear that the Longhorns are going to have a more prominent NFL Draft class in 2023 than they did in 2022. Texas went without a single draft pick back in the spring in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

It also looks as if Bijan is very likely to snap the Longhorns’ drought of first-round NFL Draft picks. The last time the Longhorns had a first-round NFL Draft pick was back in 2015, when defensive tackle Malcom Brown, who was taken 32nd overall by the New England Patriots.
