Cedric Baxter Jr., RB

Both in terms of statistics and highlights on the day, the highly touted four-star Edgewater (FL) running back and recent Texas commit Cedric Baxter Jr. had a sparkling start to his senior season. Largely thanks to the efforts of Baxter on the ground, Edgewater High School was able to claim the convincing 22-17 win over Bishop Moore.

We got to see one impressive play from Baxter on a rushing score where he was able to use that sneaky speed to hit the hole and use his lower-body strength to pick up yards after initial contact.

Baxter posted his own stats on the night in a tweet on Aug. 26. He said that he racked up 232 rushing yards on 22 carries (10.5 yards per carry), with one rushing score. Baxter also noted that one of his rushing scores on the night was called back.

This was a very solid start for the 2022 Florida Metro Region Offensive Player of the Year in the preseason high school football honors.

After an insane junior season at Edgewater where Baxter racked up 1,718 rushing yards on 202 attempts (8.5 yards per carry), 26 rushing touchdowns, and seven catches for 102 receiving yards (14.7 yards per catch), and one receiving touchdown, it looks like the Florida native is set for an even bigger senior campaign. Baxter is going to continue to be a top Texas commit to watch around the high school football landscape this fall.
