There were plenty of doubters heading into the high school football season in terms of the elite five-star Texas football quarterback commit and Isidore Newman product Arch Manning holding the nation’s top spot for the 2023 cycle. Some speculated that, if not for Arch having that Manning name on the back of his jersey, he would not be garnering as much attention as he has this summer.

Yet, Arch had his first real opportunity heading into the fall to prove some of the doubters wrong and really show why he is the nation’s top recruit for the 2023 cycle. Arch and Isidore Newman took on De La Salle on the night of Aug. 26.

And it didn’t take long for Arch to show why he is the nation’s top-rated recruit for the 2023 cycle.

Just as fans were chanting “overrated” at Arch when the game was tied in the fourth quarter between Newman and De La Salle, he scrambled for an impressive 22-yard touchdown. That was just the thing that Arch and Newman needed to silence the students chanting “overrated” at the five-star quarterback against De La Salle.

This was the first touchdown run of the 2022 season for Manning.

And this was truly a nice run for Manning that shows his athletic ability shouldn’t be slept on.

Moreover, this 20-yard touchdown run from Arch put Newman ahead by one score. And they would ultimately lock up the win over De La Salle by the final score of 20-13.

Many considered this win for Newman over De La Salle an upset. And you can thank this clutch play from Arch as a driving factor for Newman pulling off this upset in the end.
