Game week has arrived for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian as the regular season opener is now five days away. Texas will open up the 2022 regular season slate at home on Sep. 3 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks out of the Sun Belt, with kickoff time set for 7 p.m. CT.

That matchup against ULM this coming weekend will kick off a challenging run to round out the non-conference slate during the month of September.

Yet, this season has a lot of promise for the Longhorns if this team can put it all together during Big 12 play. There are multiple areas where Texas needs to show strides this season after struggling at times last year. But there are some looming indicators that Texas should be one of the more improved teams in the Big 12 this fall.

Final set of game-by-game predictions for Texas football for the 2022 season

Here’s a look at the final game-by-game predictions for the Longhorns during the 2022 season as we have arrived at the first game week of the fall.

0-0. Austin, TX. 7 PM CT. 0-0. Longhorn Network. 851. 2416. Saturday, Sept 3

Texas gets a very manageable opponent to open up the regular season in ULM on Sep. 3 at home. This is a good opportunity for Sark and the Longhorns to build up some confidence and momentum before the really difficult portion of the non-conference schedule arrives in the following two weekends.

If Texas can get a comfortable lead with the offense looking good in the first half against ULM, that will be a good start for the newly-named starting quarterback and redshirt freshman Quinn Ewers.

Getting Ewers in rhythm will be one of the big-time keys to this game for Texas. He must get settled in to have the right comfort level and mindset heading into the rest of the September schedule.

Yet, Texas is a heavy favorite in this game, by nearly 40 points. This should be the most winnable game on the schedule for the Longhorns this fall.

Final score prediction: Texas-51, ULM-21
