Texas goes from what looks to be the most difficult game on the regular season schedule in 2022 just one weekend after the easiest game on paper. Sark will get to face his former boss in legendary head coach Nick Saban and the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 2 at home on Sep. 10.

Most are assuming that Texas is going to get blown out of the water in this game. Betting odds commonly have Texas as a two-touchdown underdog at the very least.

The main goal for Sark, Ewers and the Longhorns in this game will be to hang with the team that is the overwhelming favorite to win the National Championship this season. If Texas can hold this to a one or two-score game and even come close to putting Alabama on upset alert, that will be a momentum-builder for the rest of the regular season.

Final score prediction: Alabama-37, Texas-21

After a tough loss to the Crimson Tide on Sep. 10, Texas will get their first shot to bounce back in the final game of the non-conference schedule, against the defending Conference-USA Champion UTSA Roadrunners on Sep. 17.

UTSA looks to be one of the better Group of Five teams in college football this season, and their offense shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Texas’ defense will be put to the test against an experienced and efficient quarterback in UTSA senior Frank Harris and a standout trio of receivers that includes seniors Joshua Cephus, Zakhari Franklin, and De’Corian Clark.

But the UTSA defense loses a lot from last season. Ewers and star junior running back Bijan Robinson should be able to pick apart what should be one of the defenses that rank in the bottom third of the FBS in 2022.

Final score prediction: Texas-48, UTSA-31
