The first week of the season is here, and Texas football is now less than 24 hours from kicking off for the first game on Sep. 3. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian will face head coach Terry Bowden and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks out of the Sun Belt under the lights at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, with kickoff time set for 7 p.m. CT on Sep. 3.

And it now looks like Sark and the Longhorns will have one more notable player in the fold among the actives for the opener this weekend against ULM. According to a report from Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods on the night of Sep. 2, redshirt freshman transfer wide receiver Agiye Hall will be active against ULM.

Richardson noted that “Hall has worked hard behind the scenes since his suspension” and that he doesn’t know “how much he’ll play on Saturday”. He also mentions that it’s big for this as a “fresh start for Hall”.

Texas football set to have WR Agiye Hall active vs. ULM this weekend

This is all good news for the Longhorns to now get some critical depth back in the wide receiver room. It’s also good to hear that Hall is making some progress to work his way back with this Texas team less than one month after he was originally suspended indefinitely from the team.

Sark mentioned in a press conference during fall camp (specifically back on Aug. 22) that he was “pleased” with the progress that Hall had made since the suspension.

Moreover, it will be interesting to see if Hall does take any reps with the Longhorns this weekend. If he does get some live-game reps against ULM this weekend, Hall could bring some valuable added depth at wideout after the season-ending ACL tear that redshirt sophomore Isaiah Neyor suffered during the first scrimmage of fall camp.

Texas originally landed a commitment from Hall by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal back during the spring. Hall spent one season playing for head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who the Longhorns will see at home at DKR in Week 2 on Sep. 10.
