Tyanthony Smith, LB

Among the late additions to the visitor list this week for the Longhorns for the ULM game was the rising three-star 2024 Jasper (TX) linebacker Tyanthony Smith. After this visit to Austin concluded for Smith this weekend, he mentioned that the trip was “wonderful” and that he thought there was “great hospitality”.

Smith is a pretty recent Texas offer that added the Longhorns to his list back in mid-June. He has also hauled in quite a few big offers since then, including the LSU Tigers, TCU Horned Frogs, and Auburn Tigers, among other schools.

This was also the first unofficial visit for Smith to Austin since the summer. He visited Texas back in mid-June, in the same week that he received his scholarship offer. And it appears that the second visit was a good one for him too.

S’Maje Burrell, LB

Another recognizable name on campus for the Longhorns this weekend among the visiting recruits was the highly touted four-star North Crowley linebacker and Texas commit S’Maje Burrell. As one of the mainstays in the Longhorns 2023 class on the defensive side of the ball, Burrell was a steward recruiting for Texas for this cycle throughout the offseason.

And it’s nice to see that Burrell is continuing to get on campus a bunch this fall to keep generating this positive buzz around the programs and on the recruiting trail. He said that “the game was awesome” and that the was “happy to see everyone balling out”. Burrell also specifically noted that he liked the way that senior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown looked in this game.
