Texas football WR Agiye Hall back at practice this week
Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian are now just a few days away from the start of the most highly anticipated non-conference game of the regular season slate. On Sep. 10, Texas is set to host head coach Nick Saban and the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.
In what promises to be the toughest test of the regular season for the Longhorns, there is an opportunity for this young team to grow.
Moreover, there will be a young former Crimson Tide player that the Texas faithful could see contribute as soon as this weekend that is now back at practice in redshirt freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall. The former Alabama transfer was suspended indefinitely from the team after an incident last month that resulted in an arrest.
Hall was suspended from the team back on Aug. 12. But Hall was active last weekend for the Longhorns in the regular season opener against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
Even though Hall was active for the Longhorns in the win in the opener at home on Sep. 3 over ULM, he didn’t take any snaps.
Former Alabama WR Agiye Hall reportedly back at practice with Texas football this week
It will be interesting to see if that changes this week, though, as Hall could get a full week of practice ahead of a regular season game with the team for the first time this fall. According to a report from Eric Nahlin of Inside Texas on Sep. 7 (paid content), Hall is back with the team practicing this week after suiting up for the Longhorns against ULM last weekend.
Hall practicing with Texas this week isn’t surprising given that he was active for the opener on Sep. 3. But it’s still good to know the confirmation that Hall is practicing with the team during game week in preparation for the high-stakes matchup against the Crimson Tide on Sep. 10.
This could be big for Hall to potentially get snaps against his former team. I’m not necessarily saying that Hall is guaranteed to get offensive snaps, especially since he didn’t get any in the opener last weekend. But it is still worth watching to see if he’s put in a spot to contribute for Texas against his former squad.
Texas heads into this meeting with Alabama on Sep. 10 sporting a record of 1-0 (0-0 Big 12) following the convincing 52-10 win over ULM on Sep. 3. Meanwhile, Alabama heads into Week 2 with a record of 1-0 (0-0 SEC) after the dominant 55-0 win at home on Sep. 3 over the Utah State Aggies.
