3 elite 5-Star recruits Texas football could land in September
Dakorien Moore, WR
One of the very early targets to watch on the radar for the Longhorns 2025 class is the elite five-star Duncanville wide receiver Dakorien Moore. Texas is recruiting the wide receiver position well for the last couple of cycles, and that trend could continue on into the 2024 and 2025 classes depending on how things shake out with a handful of key in-state targets.
And the early target to watch at the wide receiver position for the Longhorns 2025 class is now the 5-foot-10 and 275-pound Moore. In the 247Sports recruit rankings for the 2025 cycle, Moore is the highest-rated wide receiver and the top prospect out of Texas. It’s also worth noting that 247Sports lists him as the nation’s No. 8 2025 high school prospect.
Texas and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion look to sit in a very good spot with Moore very early on in his recruitment. He’s made his way to campus for more unofficial visits to Austin, by a good margin, than any other school that offered him thus far.
Just in 2022, Moore has unofficially visited Texas three times. And it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see him get back to campus one or two more times this fall for some game weekends in Big 12 play.
I will say that it is a long shot for Texas to pull in a commitment from Moore in the near future. His recruitment is still growing as he continues to rake in more and more offers in the midst of his sophomore season in high school. But the early traction is clearly there between the Longhorns and Moore. It’s definitely not out of the question that he could be the first recruit to commit to the Longhorns 2025 class.
