Bijan Robinson puts himself back in the Heisman running

Without a doubt, the best player in this game was the star junior Texas running back Bijan Robinson. Texas’ best player and the likely first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was awesome against the Roadrunners on this night.

Bijan finished up this game with what had to be at least a dozen missed tackles forced to go along with 20 rushes for 183 yards (9.3 yards per carry) and a whopping three rushing scores. Bijan easily topped the total number of rushing yards and rushing scores he had from the last two games combined.

We also saw Bijan go for the longest touchdown run of his collegiate career to date in this game. Bijan scored a 78-yard rushing touchdown that helped Texas establish some real momentum in the second half.

After this game, Bijan now has 311 rushing yards on 51 carries (6.2 yards per carry), five rushing touchdowns, and seven catches for 132 receiving yards with one receiving touchdown. That now puts Bijan north of 400 total yards and six total touchdowns on the season so far.

Considering how good Texas has looked through most of the first three games of the season, that should be more than enough for Bijan to hang around in Heisman contention heading into conference play.
